STEAMing to the new project!
In Lithuania as well as other European countries, there is a need for professions related to #STEAM subjects. However, the question is – how to get young people interested in engineering, mathematics, science?
During the #Erasmus+ funded project meeting in Athens on 25-26 of September we have started to create the vision of new STEAM workshops! There will be developed not only workshops for students, but also a virtual environment for teachers’ competence improvement, scientific application, face to face training for teachers.
The team is composed of professionals of their field from Greece, France, Italy and Lithuania – NGOs working in the area of creative use of modern technologies, media, developing digital competences, creativity, etc.

Great project ENABLE meeting in Iceland!
The first day of the project meeting in Iceland was full of discussions and leaning from cultural differences.
The highlight of the day was a visit to Bessastaðir President residence where a state's first lady hosted us. Eliza Reid will be also part of our project under the "migrants entrepreneurs" topic (https://www.forseti.is/fr%C3%A9ttir/2019-09-05-enable/).
Afterwards we met an inspiring woman and the children books' author and illustrator Bergrun Iris Saevarsdottir. She agreed to tell us her story how to reach your dreams!
Second meeting day has started with a presentation of Hansina B Einarsdóttir about women entrepreneurship and creative thinking. Great presentation based on personal experience!
We had another interview with Halla María Svansdóttir who met us at her restaurant in the town Grindavík. Her path from working at home to opening the restaurant in Keflavik airport will be also presented in the video.
In the evening project ENABLE team has met with the Mayor of Garður Municipality Magnús Stefánsson to present the project. Great talk about the challenges of the area!
The next meeting is planned on 3-4 of December in Finland.

The project addresses the priority: “Developing online alternative and counter-narratives and promoting the development of critical thinking by Internet users“.
The innovative aspect of the project is the enhancing gamification in the role of creating safe zones for dialogue, debate and awareness of hate speech online starting from one of the most loved everyday life practices of the youngsters.
The project proposes to learn how to fight hate speech online starting exploiting video games in favour of the cause, by transforming a group of strangers into a community: discovering the other, activating empathy, trusting to be able to connect with others, having a common interest and the means to interact, by creating something. For this reason, the project proposes “creatively tinkering with technology” involving young game designers, promoting the dissemination of European content produced by the most innovative video game industry (often start-ups), laying the foundations for a greater involvement of the videogame industry in the contrast to the phenomenon.
- Contrast hate speech online, enhancing video games and gamification as tools to reinforce positive behaviour in teenagers;
- Promote awareness and comprehension of xenophobic and racist online hate speech, through the creation of new pedagogical tools and the exploitation of video games, for teachers and youth workers, that consolidate empathy and critical thinking;
- Creation of new and creative online counter narratives in form of gaming activities.
1. Creation of new pedagogical itineraries based on existing videogames;

3. Organization of a European-level hackathon for the creation of 4 new game proposals;

The most relevant priority of the project is to support individuals in acquiring and developing basic skills and key competences through effective and innovative methodologies that promote interdisciplinary co-operation in science, technology, engineering, arts and maths (STE(A)M) in connection with IT and Media Literacy. To facilitate access to technology, development of digital competences for all students and enhance the attractiveness of STEAM, we need to find a way to bring teachers closer to methods and projects that can open up the way to new interests.
Therefore, the project will implement “Digital Atelier” (which is based on the Italian participatory methodologies Alberto Manzi and Bruno Munari) format which will be used to develop basic and key competences of students via activities related to IT, media tools and STEAM subjects.
The activities throughout the period of 2,5 years are organized in a way so that to achieve the project objectives and create the anticipated outputs. There will be 4 transnational meetings in partners countries, 1 LTTA on Bruno Munari and Alberto Manzi methodologies and co-design of 1 common digital atelier and 4 multiplier events (with more than 250 stakeholders) to have the outputs dissemination on wide European scale.
The project is planning to develop 3 intellectual outputs:
1. Toolkit (IO1) for teachers (with 20 digital ateliers related to IT and STEAM subjects from 4 European countries – Italy, Greece, France and Lithuania) to be used in schools with their students to develop their digital and media competences (as part of contemporary key competences) and promote better incorporation of STEAM subjects into school curricula.
2. MOOC (IO2). The MOOC will create the link to the materials produced for the Toolkit (IO1) and all materials, videos of live sessions, tutorials, chat for discussions to also create a network of “digital atelierists”. MOOC will be used for teachers’ training to prepare them to develop digital ateliers related to STEAM and other subjects.
3. APP (IO3). Starting from the co-planning with the students, the appropriate disciplinary stimuli and the re-elaboration of contents during the digital atelier specifically created for the co-design of the app, it will be possible to develop a scientific application enriched by the creativity of teenagers, their ability to explore scientific topics and the know-how in disseminating them. The final product will be a free App that will be available on App and Play Store and could be used by any other Student or teacher around Europe.
More than 2000 participants will be involved in our project: about 961 directly and 1 200 indirectly: 27 teachers will participate in LTTA, 60 teachers involved in national trainings, 24 teachers involved in the experimentation of Digital Ateliers in associated schools, around 600 students involved in 4 countries when experimenting DAs (24 classes).
The project outputs will be shared with teachers, school management, policy/ decisions makers via created multilingual project website, School Education Gateway, eTwinning and Erasmus+ Results Platforms.
Meeting summer with a great conference!
The last day of spring was celebrated with a great conference at Šiauliai University library - "New formal and non-formal education methods: from school to the labour market".
The conference brought together different specialists – teachers, social workers, psychologists, social pedagogues, etc. We are glad that they found a theme relevant to them!
We have welcomed participants not only from Šiauliai region, but other cities as well.
The Vice-mayor of Šiauliai city Egidijus Elijošius opened the conference and stressed the importance of the theme. We are glad that he stayed with us throughout the conference!
The first presentation was delivered by VšĮ Žmogiškųjų išteklių stebėsenos ir plėtros biuras Project Manager on „Dragon Dreaming” method. She was also glad that the conference participants would have a possibility to participate in the workshop and test the method in practice. Attendees had a chance to see the movie about this method and participate in the discussion afterwards. Project Manager Aurelija Jankienė presented innovative methods used by VšĮ Socialinių inovacijų centras for the social and labour integration of socially vulnerable society groups – youth, seniors, disabled, social risk families, migrants.
The social programmes coordinator from VšĮ EDUKACINIAI PROJEKTAI presented Erasmus+ KA2 project “App Your School” (www.appyourschool.eu) and the presentation “Digital Atelier – an innovation in (non)-formal education”. She not only presented the toolkit containing 15 Digital Ateliers, but also creatively included participants into digital survey.
The plenary session ended with the presentation by social programmes coordinator Agnė Raubaitė who presented the WISE model - Work Integration Social Enterprise being promoted within the project SEPAL (funded by EEA and Norway Grants Fund for Youth Employment; http://www.projectsepal.com/).
After the coffee break participants had a chance to participate in workshops. All in all we had 6 workshops:

We, as organisers of the conference, were pleased to hear that the event was interesting, involving and each participant could take something he / she will be able to use in his / her work.

ENABLE - Entrepreneurship for Socially Disadvantaged
On 29-30 of March the 2nd project ENABLE partners‘ meeting was held in Denmark. Partners from Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Finland and Lithuania participated.
Two days have been really productive: partner discussed administrative questions, learning platform – website, project dissemination and evaluation activities.
An important part of the meeting was the project partners‘ presentations of good practice examples of businesses run by senior citizens. Each partner selected 2 examples. Danish partners have also invited Johnny Hansen from company Menevo to present his activities.
Partners also had time to discuss the upcoming meeting in Iceland where good practice examples of women business will be presented.
We hope that those stories will inspire disadvantaged society groups to follow the examples and find their path in life.

Project ENABLE (Entrepreneurship for Socially Disadvantaged) has started!
We are glad to announce that NORDPLUS ADULT programme project ENABLE has started!
On 16-17 of August the 1st project partners’ meeting was held in Šiauliai (Lithuania) by the employees of VšĮ EDUKACINIAI PROJEKTAI.
Partners from Step by Step (Iceland), AOF-East (Denmark), Seiklejate Vennaskond (Estonia) and Learning for integration ry (Finland) were welcomed by the Project Manager Gintarė Černikienė and Social Worker Monika Jonikytė. Another partner from Finland Anmiro are planning to come for a separate meeting with coordinators since they were not able to attend this meeting.
2 days were really productive – we got to know each other and our organisations better, got acquainted with the project, its budget, signed partnership agreement, shared responsibilities, determined further course of work and presented good practice examples of businesses run by disabled entrepreneurs.
Partners are eager to work on this project and learn from different target groups that will be covered in this project – disabled people, migrants, women, young people and senior citizens.
We have also discussed the next meeting in Denmark in March 2019.
4th project “App your School“ Partners’ Meeting
On the 8th-9th January, “App Your School” project partners participated in the 4th meeting in Istanbul, Turkey. During the meeting partners shared the first results of digital ateliers experimentation in schools, others presented their plans. We have also worked and planned our main project results – national toolkit and European manual for pedagogues, trainers to successfully include extracurricular ICT competences of students into the learning / teaching process.
Until now we have already performed many activities – collected good practice examples related to ICT development in each of 8 project countries, delivered national training for teachers, trainers, created initial versions of digital ateliers. VšĮ EDUKACINIAI PROJEKTAI, Kaišiadorys Adult and Youth School and Šiauliai city and district schools will experiment 5 created digital ateliers. The aim of workshops is to use students’ knowledge about social media, smartphone apps and ability to apply different ICT tools in lessons. Our organisation will deliver digital ateliers on the following themes: recognition and expression of emotions, intergenerational learning and cooperation, problems of the disabled, team building in the class.
The experimentation is planned to last until May. The results will be presented in the meeting in Poland.
VšĮ EDUKACINIAI PROEJKTAI is implementing a 3 years project „App your school“.
The training based on Bruno Munari and Alberto Manzi methodologies was organised in Bologna (Italy) on 17 – 22 of September.
This was already a second learning event in Italy and this time partners presented one of their created digital ateliers (based on the principles of Munari and Manzi methodologies).
Partners from 8 European countries (Italy, Turkey, Portugal, Finland, Czech Respublic, Greece, Poland and, of course, Lithuania) are aiming at trying out new methods and including technologies that children, teenagers are using on an everyday basis: smart phones, various apps, tablets as well as the latest tools: 3D technology, smart robots, virtual reality glasses, etc..
During the trainings participants presented their experience using modern technologies in education process. Also partners discussed the possibilities and difficulties related to the application of smart technologies in the schools of 8 European countries.
Next project steps – to finalise 5 digital ateliers / workshops and try out them in schools, collect results and prepare national toolkit for teachers to use.
2017 05 24 APP YOUR SCHOOL METHODS SUCCESSFULLY APPLIED!
On 11th of May we have had another group of 24 participants to present them the methods of Bruno Munari and Alberto Manzi. The main theme of the training was work situations and improvement of communication. At first, using different icons we have tried out coding and decoding messages. Then exchanged messages within the group and tried to decode them.
Afterwards, we tried to decode messages from the given pictures.
Participants also created pictures of themselves using threads. Some depicted their portraits, others how they were feeling at that moment or even tried to show their life course:
Also we created original copies using a copy machine and created self-portraits. The final task was to create one important event in a person’s life using the technique of collage and a copy machine. Then all participants tried to make one common story depicting the whole life of a person.
2017 01 18 - First Learning Event in Italy (project AppYourSchool)
From October 2016 VšĮ EDUKACINIAI PROJEKTAI and Kaišiadorių suaugusiųjų ir jaunimo mokykla participate in the project AppYourSchool. Five days (January 9-13) four participants spent in Bologna. More than 40 participants gathered from Italy, Turkey, Portugal, Czech Republic, Poland, Finland, Greece and, of course, Lithuania.
Project coordinators delivered to the participants two methodologies – Alberto Manzi and Bruno Munari – which might be used in the work with children, teenagers and other learners.
Five working days were really interesting and we did a lot of work. Activities were motivating, practical. We drew on paper, made trees from paper and wire, using programming software coded them on the screen of the computer. We also made art with a photocopier!

2015 10 10 - FINAL “AUTO“ PROJECT MEETING
On the 8th– 9thof October the employees of VšĮ EDUKACINIAI PROJEKTAI Gintarė Černikienė and Edita Mintautytė participated in the last meeting of the project AUTO – AUtistic adults Training for new Opportunities – in Carrara (Italy).
On the first day of the meeting partners discussed the achieved results, the created HANDBOOK related to the integration of people with autism spectrum disorder into labour market and Best Practice Manual.
Partners were also satisfied with the results of the pilot training in each of the five participating countries. Although the results in each country were quite different but they were really positive. Some high functioning autists from Italy, United Kingdom and Austria had possibility to gain working skills. They worked in canteens, department stores, flower shops, etc. One participant from Italy obtained a permanent job in the field of graphics design.
On the second day of the meeting the final conference was held. More than 100 people gathered. Representatives from partner organisations delivered presentations on supporting autistic people on the job market, counselling, experiences of enterprises which hosted the job training of autistic people, etc.
The event was a real success and partners hope to continue their work together.
2015 06 30 - On 30th of June VšĮ EDUKACINIAI PROJEKTAI organised a local dissemination workshop within the project AUTO –Autistic adults Training for new Opportunities.
The aim of the workshop was to make stakeholders aware about the project AUTO aims and results in order to have their feedback and guarantee project sustainability. 20 participants have gathered from different organisations: specialists from day centres, social services centre, NGOs, mothers whose autistic children attend day centre.
At first, social programmes coordinator Gintarė Černikienė presented the AUTO project. Also the handbook related to the integration of people with autism spectrum disorder into labour market which is one of the most important results of the project was presented.
Later, the informal discussion about the present situation, challenges and difficulties of the autistic people in Lithuania and the necessary changes was carried out. Specialists from the day centre kindly shared their experience of working with autistic people, mothers having autistic children also pointed out the difficulties they face: the non-presence of short time services, the (un)professionalism of some specialists in education, health care system, the non-accessibility to ABA and TEACCH methodologies, the ways mothers can relax, etc.
Moreover, two techniques / exercises of relaxation have been introduced (one with rocks and sand, another – drawing technique) at the same time developing the discussion on the situation in Lithuania with autistic people. The feedback from participants regarding these techniques was really positive.
Each participant was given several copies of the brochure to bring to their organisation to spread the word about the project.

During the project meetings were held in Lithuania, UK, Belgium and Portugal. Participants had an opportunity to meet other women with ASD, compare the situation in different countries and share their experiences and ideas.
Women with ASD also went to Brussels where they visited the European Parliament and various international organisations.
In May there was an international conference in Lisbon (Portugal). The research, results of a project and the possibility of continuing actions were presented and discussed there.
The main results of the project are: a book “Breaking the Silence”, as well as a learning module and materials for women with ASD and their parents, teachers and careers, and a documentary film “Autism in Pink” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-FvExDAqh8)

28/06/2014 - Project Daphne partners’ meeting in Riga
25 – 27 June partners from 25 countries met in Riga (Latvia) for a last meeting of a Project Daphne3 – Impact of Relationship. During the meeting they shared their activities, completed tasks and introduced their social networks profiles. Participants discussed the last tasks, that need to be completed before the end of a Project, and shared some ideas about possible continuing activities. 08/05/2014 - On May 4-7, in Vienna (Austria) came partners of LLP, KA3 Multilateral Project “Money Master" from Lithuania, Austria, Portugal, Spain and Turkey.
During the meeting participants discussed the project issues, quality analysis, also about the last meeting, which will be held in Turkey. Also they had a possibility to test the developed game beta version, to share comments, what else should be developed, ideas, suggestions. There was a very strong focus on the game distribution issues, and it was decided that it will be a free game across the European Union and Turkey, which would be easily get by the interested educational institutions or individuals.
30/04/2014 - 28-30 of April partners from Austria, Italy, Romania, UK and Lithuania came to Šiauliai for a second AUTO project (AUtistic adults Training Opportunities) meeting.
During the meeting Austrian partners presented research report about autistic adults situation across the Europe, in Turkey and USA. All partners presented their best practices reports about working with autistic adults. The main task for meeting was to prepare the timeline and content of the training course for autistic adults, to share responsibilities and plans for future tasks and meetings. In the next future most of the meetings will be held online. Partners will create an internet page where it will be possible to find usefull information about working with autistic adults (18+). During free time partners visited the Hill of Crosses, had a short sight-seeing in Šiauliai.
12/03/2014 - Final conference „Universal design – challenges or possibilities?“
The final conference of the project “My Social Responsibility” was held on the 12th of March in Liepaja (Latvia). During the conference the results of the project have been discussed. Also a discussion about universal design has been organised: the present situation and what should be changed, how universal design could be integrated into everyday life, the advantages and disadvantages of the universal design, the importance of universal design in providing social services. The representatives from Latvia and Lithuania shared information on the situation about the involvement of local municipalities in social projects. Also a lot of attention was paid to the companion-assistant and short-time stay services.
09/12/2013 - “Talent4 … Europe” project’s coordinators visit in Siauliai
“Talent4… Europe” project has reached its pathway. What concerns product exploitation the first project years were very fruitful. The pilot product’s testing were held in Siauliai remand prison in October – November, there was tested the diagnostic system in order to asses learners individual abilities and career opportunities. The testing received only positive feedback.
On the 5th of December VšĮ EDUKACINIAI PROJEKTAI were visited by the project coordinator from Great Britain. The aim of the meeting was to figure out the basic product’s advantages, i.e. the advantages and disadvantages of individual abilities system. Also to discuss the future adaptation of diagnostic system on a national context. After the meeting project coordinator summarized it as very successful. He claimed that he is glad our close collaboration with Siauliai remand’s prison and about clear future project opportunities in Lithuania.
